we all love to romanticize the idea that the small, unthinking acts of kindness you impart on others can stick with the recipient for the rest of their lives, and they do! i still remember some dude that held the door for me at a theater years ago, but the much funnier inverse of that idea is that if you do something embarrassing in public there's a good chance that it'll become a cornerstone memory for someone. i saw a guy in crocs do an honest to god family guy fall on the wet ground outside walmart when i was like 7 and that's sticking with me until i die.
